Introducing the Canadian Census Citation Creator app! This app (thanks to a direct request by a fellow WikiTreer, thanks Tim for this rabbit hole!), will allow you to create a source citation for any record on the Library and Archives Canada - Censuses website.
To use the app - you only have to fill in two pieces of information - the URL of the Item information page, and then the text on that page (Select All - Copy - Paste). Press the Compile Citation - and the app does the rest of the work for you. (It's very similar to other Source Citation apps I've built).
You can also add bonus information that is on the census record, but hasn't been saved in the database, like household members.
A YouTube video gives you a quick demo of how to use the app.
NOTES: This app currently works on the existing Census pages (in English) - not on the NEW version of the site that is still in development. I will add support to the newer version once it's finalized.
ALSO: I do plan to add this type of support directly into Rob Pavey's amazing WikiTree Sourcer browser extension - but - in the short term, you can use this app - and - for those who are nervous about using extensions, the app will always be there for you.
As always - let me know where you find bugs! Enjoy!
