G2G: Advice before adding of this pre-1700 Biron profile?

Question

I can add a to the profile of Jean Marie (Biron) de Gontaut-Biron-St.Genie III. This is who I can add:

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

That link on Geneanet came up as not found. Geneanet is considered a user contributed tree and not acceptable for Pre-1700 profiles. Here's a link to the France Projects acceptable, and not acceptable sources. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:France_Project_Reliable_Sources

While many are not, some trees on Geneanet are sourced and reliable. Here the tree is pierfit, a collaborative tree which is mostly reliable. And this probably explains why the link is broken: the information was found to be incorrect and quickly removed.

I seriously doubt that Jean Biron, father of New France immigrant Pierre Biron, could be related to the Gontaut-Biron family. You should look for sources on him first, before trying to add his father. Meanwhile, I suggest reverting the name change, as well as the death date (which is actually his son's marriage).

Although the genealogical tables that Etienne Pattou has published online, are also not always regarded as totally reliable, those for the Famille & Seigneurs de Gontaut, Gontaut-Biron & Badefols (opens in a PDF) would indicate that Jean de Gontaut-Biron-St.Genie III as a son of Jean II  de Gontaut-Biron and Jacqueline de Gontaut de Saint-Genies, never existed.  See p. 7 and 8, and page 24.

The Geneanet genealogy, may have originated from this Geni genealogy or vice-versa.
