Thanks for DHS article!  You are not speaking to a naive person!  I am and have been very aware of similar arguments presented by various scholars throughout the years, even before I started researching my own roots.

But, in my personal opinion, it is very nice to just know “how” and “through whom”one is related to the various royals throughout Europe.  I have a deep interest in history and it’s nice to know how one is related to all the historical players.

Enough said!

Very much understood and appreciated. However, it's highly probable that those of us of European descent have hundreds--if not many thousands--of biological pathways to someone like Charlemagne. I'm just clarifying for other readers that identifying all of the "through whom" will be daunting if not outright impossible. Here's another brief article by Graham Coop, noted U.C. Davis population and evolutionary geneticist: "Our Vast, Shared Family Tree."

The net message is that our actual, genetic family trees are much, much smaller than we typically imagine. And, depending upon the size of a starting-point seed or founder population and subsequent genetically dissimilar genetic immigrations and emigrations, by 15 generations ago--give or take--we begin to approach having as many ancestors that appear more than once in our genetic tree as we do ancestors who appear only once. Using a standard generational interval of 27 years, Charlemagne would be roughly 44 generations ago. Untangling those threads is a highly improbable task.

The descendant sticker help page explains how to add an image to the descendant sticker:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Descendant

you can add an image of your own or use one that’s already available here.

I do so on my profile Kiedaisch-1 using the following code:

{{Descendant
|image=Of_the_Franks-118-1.jpg
|id=[[Carolingian-77|Charles the Great]]  (Charlemagne) Patricius Romanorum
}}
