Changing a private person to a deceased person

Hello, i was researching a family who are unsourced. They were uploaded from someone's ged with no dates of birth or death. I delved into the situation and found that the children are public, and are still living. The father is listed as private, but he has passed away. I have multiple sources for him. I would like to get this family straightened out, but I'm not sure how to "fix" father. See husband of Mitchell-1130. The youngest child has passed away and I added sourcing for her.

You should contact the profile manager to ask them to change the status from private to deceased, which will make it viewable..

After that, If the profile still has lesser privacy restrictions, you can ask them to add you to the trusted list, so you can add sources.

If you don't get an answer to these inquiries within a week, then you can click on the PROBLEMS tag to file an unresponsive member request.

Give admin a few days to see if they can get a response. If not, admin may close the member account, which will orphan most of the member's profiles. But all private profiles will get deleted, so then you will have to recreate the former private profile into a new deceased profile.

I don't think the father even has a profile manager. The children don't, and I don't know how to see the man's profile at all, since it's private. Should someone just delete him and his living children?
Regular members have no way to delete profiles. You have to go through admin.

I adopted the wife's profile because it then shows the husband's name. It still won's show me his profile but clicking on the name shows me admin is the profile manager and I sent them a message saying that the man is deceased. So now we just wait for admin's feedback to see what they will decide.

Maybe you can add a message to his wife's profile with one short death source for him and admin may use it to open his profile.
Ok admin added me as manager and I added his death date, so his profile should be viewable now for you to work on.

Yesterday I put his death source on his wife’s profile. But today I accidentally knocked over my computer case and now my hard drive is not being recognized, so I don’t know how long it will take me to fix it. I am using an iPhone just to leave this message but can’t work on genealogy.

I'd put the death source info on the husband's profile as a comment. Then, for the kids, if they're living, you can put a birthdate in, and add [[Category:WikiTree Admin]] before the biography line and then save them.  It will give you a warning about the profile locking and other people not being able to adopt them, but that's cool, if they're living they shouldn't be adoptable.  That category will ensure that someone on the team will check them and delete them if necessary, or otherwise handle them, and when they get to the husband's profile, they will have the proof of the husband's death right there on the post so they know they can open him up.  (these instructions are also here:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Friday_Date_Night#When_you_find_a_date_.28or_maybe_you_can.27t.29 )

Adopt one of the children. That will give you limited visibility to the profile you're looking for.  You will then be able to request trusted access to the profile and you will be able to add death information.

All private profiles have managers.
