Captain John Holbrook, born in England about 1618, was married 3 times per Torrey:

  1. Sarah [French?], about 1640, Weymouth. She died about 1643/44
  2. Elizabeth [Stream], about 1646, Weymouth. She died about 1688
  3. Mary [Jacob], widow of John Otis, after 1688, Weymouth.  (John Otis died in 1684 in Scituate, Massachusetts.) This Torrey reference says that 'Weymouth 3:268, 4:732 Mary White (ms) doubtful'

Here is a link to the Torrey reference on American Ancestors: http://www.americanancestors.org/databases/torreys-new-england-marriages-to-1700/image/?pageName=772&volumeId=21175&rId=426890674 (Volume 2, page 772).

This profile for John Holbrook lists his 3rd wife (in the data fields) as Mary White, but the bio says his 3rd wife is Mary [Jacob] Otis. No sources are provided for Mary White as his spouse's name.

In ''Legislators of the Massachusetts General Court, 1691-1780'', it refers to John Holbrook's death in 1699, and lists the three wives listed as enumerated above, with their birth/death/marriage dates. It definitely supports Mary [Jacob] Otis as the 3rd wife. In ''The ancestry of Joseph Neal, 1769-ca.1835'', page 130, by Walter Goodwin Davis, it says that John Holbrook's 3rd wife is 'Mary _____, who survived him and who had a "daughter Loring" mentioned in his will, but whether Loring was her maiden or married name is uncertain'.  According to John Holbrook's bio, he had a 3rd child with Mary [Jacob] Otis, whose name was Loring Otis.

UPDATE Added Great Migration Source: in Anderson's Great Migration 1634-1635, Volume 3, G-H, page 352, Thomas Holbrook is profiled. His son, John, is listed with his 3rd wife being Mary [Jacob] Otis: http://www.americanancestors.org/databases/great-migration-immigrants-to-new-england-1634-1635-volume-iii-g-h/image/?pageName=352&volumeId=7118&rId=235153735

Based on this source data, it seems that John Holbrook's 3rd wife was Mary [Jacob] Otis.

Are there any quality sources that support Mary White being his 3rd wife?

Thank you for any and all assistance.
