One of my ancestors was a sailor, Charles Ford (convict of the Atlas 1816). I found one record that said he was a native of Virginia but then I found another record saying he was an English sailor. Both records agree to his felony and sentence and his ship to Australia. Does anybody know where I can confirm whether he was English or American? Many Thanks
