Change a Birthplace?

Hi Folks, I did post on Geneology Help (here) about Joseph Tissott (Tissott-26) but did not get any hints, so here goes again. I am trying to be very careful with changing this profile, using research notes, however, the birthplace is quite obviously incorrect. I have been trying to contact the Profile manager, but there is no response as yet. I have also created a free space Tissott Family Mystery page to record research. The Profile is a tricky one, as while Joseph is a Frenchman, it is as yet unclear which part of France or french speaking Holland he was from, but it was not Lincolnshire.

Can I update the birthplace to "France" or "Unknown" until facts come to light ?

I am reluctant to use the formal process of unresponsive managers unless WT also suggests to do so. How to proceed?

If it were me, I would keep France, and use the "Uncertain" radio button underneath the Birth Place. And then place any research into a === Research Notes ===  section on that profile.

Thank you Judi, I think I will go that way. It is now for all intents 100% certain Joseph was not born in England. Thanks

Hi Greg, are there no parents mentionned on either of the marriage certificates? There are plenty of Joseph Tissots born in France around that time and that would help sorting them out

Hi Lea. No, no parents are noted on the transcript or images. However, Joseph was married at least twice in Staffordshire. The first record was 1818, the second 1839. The 1839 records show TWO marriages to a Price and a Tricket. It is possible that these are the same person and may have used either a maiden name or a previous marriage surname / another mystery. Given that Joseph was born about 1760, it is also possible there was a marriage previously in France/Holland. At this point though without a trail back past Staffordshire, this is speculation.

Thanks for checking in.
