G2G: Another puzzle for someone with more research ability and/or tools

My research so far for this family has citations for 7 children. However there would appear to have possibly been 2 further children born apparently after their father was supposedly dead according to Scotlandspeople. I am satisfied with the profile for the father and mother but these 2 additional children have me puzzled.  I wonder if anyone can enlighten me.

I would say the source for child 1 Robert and a birth date of 1896 is the 1901 Census where he is 5 years old. There is a return for a Robert Roy Gibson on Scotland's people (mother's name not indexed) but in 1895 which makes more sense.

As to child number 2. I've not looked into that -my laptop is nearly out of charge- that is more of a conundrum. Maybe she gave her her late husband's name to avoid illegitimacy stigma.

Edit - Grace Gibson is just an error in the original tree- Her mother is Helen McColm who married a John Gibson. You can find them on the 1901 Census with little Grace living at 12 Victoria Gardens in Rutherglen.

Thank you Gilian. I think you have the correct solution and I’ll update the profile accordingly. I spent so much money for memberships and buying Scotlandspeople credits that when I decided to add what I had to WikiTree I promised myself I would do so without any cost but my time, which I have plenty of.

Bob

No worries

I got lucky I looked for a Grace Gibson on the census and her mother Helen’s sister was visiting so I got her mother’s maiden name. On this occasion no credits were used!
