I need help with the Beasley Surname Study

I have lots of information including a well-developed YDNA project at FTDNA. I have well over 100 trees organized at Ancestry and only a small portion at WikiTree. Most of my work is in the US where, I estimate, 70% of Beasleys live but I need a lot more work in England, Australia, and New Zealand. I have a plan and a system, but I also have a diagnosis of early-stage dementia and I'm losing some of my ability to manage the project. I can still do a lot, but I need a partner. Better yet, a team. I'd put that on the WikiTree Beasley page, but it is getting harder for me to manage the pages. I can still do a lot and I know a lot, but I need help. My website is https://beasgen.net. I'd love to meet by video conference with anyone who'd like to consider helping.

Hi Douglas,

You've certainly done a lot of work. Can you outline some of what you're looking to have done? Give us all an idea of the scope of work involved?

Thank you for your response, Eric. I tried to put out an explanation of the scope of the project. It exists in several places, the core description of the scope is at https://beasgen.net. I have lineage trees established at Ancestry.com, and linked to profiles at WikiTree as I go. There is a YDNA project linked there where YDNA-confirmed lineages are identified. My goal for WikiTree is to ensure that YDNA-confirmed lineages (tested men and direct ancestors) are identified.

I know my request is a bit of a scatter-shot and hard to respond to. I'm afraid of losing all my work and lacking a partner to pass it on to. It is a bit much to ask out of the blue like this.

Aside from my attempt to get the YDNA-tested lineages established at WikiTree, I attempt to connect existing work to these lineages. Typically, I look at any Beasley activity each day and check to see if I can connect them to known lineages.

If there is one BIG need it would be to get the cooperation of Beasleys (any spelling) from England, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. I haven't found anyone in these areas with a significant interest in the surname. Getting YDNA tests from these areas would be great.

I wish it was easier for people to see and visualize the scope of the project. I've tried to do this on WT pages but not sure it if gets across.

Hello Douglas,

I'd be happy to help but am not very well-versed in DNA. If you need profiles added or contributed to I'd be happy to do that? I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. My mom recently got the same and we are struggling to help her as much as possible. I'd like to help you get all your hard work to WikiTree.

Thank you for your response, Erin. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As I was trying to get a response, I was about to travel. I attended the Annual Meeting of the Guild of One-Name Studies in England and then took a vacation tour of Scotland. I just got back home and I'm trying to get my head back into the game.

What I would like to do is to rebuild the TNG index of all my lineage trees. It exists at https://beas-trees.beasgen.net. Here people can look up what I've developed and use my resources. Unfortunately, it is a bit out of date and I hope to get it updated soon. I'll post a notice when that is done. It still has a lot of good references, but not including new and revised information for the past year.

Once again, thank you for your interest.

Beazley is my maiden name. I understand all Beazleys who spell their name with a Z are my line.
