Father of John Washington md to Mary Flood

I am tracing back linkages from Elizabeth Washington, md to Sampson Lanier. Family histories I have located show: father of Elizabeth is Richard W. md to Elizabeth Jordan; father of Richard W. is John W. married to Mary Flood (Blunt etc).

John W. in these histories is the son of Sir John W md to Mary Curtis.  Sir. John W. is the son of Lawrence W. and Margaret Butler.

The query:  who is the correct father of John W. (1632-1661).

Thanks, as I am hoping to continue to line back accurately to the original de Washington.

Update to my initial query, after many hours of reviewing more documents:

Connections hinge on, either: that John Washington md Mary (Flood who may be a Warren), was a son of Richard md to Frances Browne, and that Richard was a younger son of Lawrence and Margaret Washington. Thereby, the lineage back is clear.

Or: The oft cited paragraph in sources that ``Richard W. was a freeman of the Clothworkers`Company of London...and a son of Lawrence Washington of Wickammond Co., Northanmptonshire, Gent. apprenticed to Richard Brent`...points to a different Lawrence and does not link to Lawrence and Margaret Butler.

The profiles here on WT are becoming almost as confusing as those on Family Search.

I look forward to comments.

Update:  I am giving the Connections Checker a go - again with linking a branch of the Washington line - not directly to President George, but nearby and further back.

No comments in a year, but perhaps someone now has a thought.

Thanks.

I'm stuck in the same place. Elizabeth Lanier's (Washington) father is Richard, married to Elizabeth Jordon. I can't figure out the correct John for Richard's father.

I have no Idea how that huge font happened.
So I have company in this puzzle. I haven't had an opportunity for more research, but if ever a breakthrough will post here.
