I've added an 1850 census and notes which I believe is for your ancestor to the profile.  You have that he was born in Middlesex, England, however there are several birth records that give his birth place as Vermont (as well as the census of 1850).  It is also where he married his spouse, Patience Barber in 1841.

The Family Search profile has the links to the sources that you can view (without searching for them individually.  I would want to do my own search -- but it's a good starting point.
