Who is my 6th great grandfather?

Family Search has James Lewis listed as my 6th great grandfather.He was born 1707 at Lyme, New London, Connecticut and died 13 April 1801 at East Lyme, New London, Connecticut. They have him listed as the father of my 5th great grandfather Seth Lewis Sr.. He was born 1750 South Carolina and died 1815 at Spartanburg, South Carolina. But according to DNA that is not correct. My Family Tree DNA kit number is 953173 and my Hapologroup is R-BY137177. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jimmy Lewis

Maybe start with Calvin and his father Seth (named on Calvin's death certificate) and see what you can find for sources that take you back further.

Although it's hard to read, take a look at the will of James Lewis from 1798 https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/2737913:9049 This names James' grandson Seth Lewis, son of his son Seth Lewis, deceased. So there is a clue from further back. I didn't go through the whole will to see if a location was given for the grandson.

It does look like the FamilySearch profile for Seth Lewis b. in 1784 could be the mix of several different people (first clue is 21 children!)
