I am the only one still alive in my family, how do I match DNA?

If you look on your ancestor's profiles Marcia, you will see a DNA section on the right (see Annie Pickering). Those are people that may be matches to you. It's worth checking it out! You can find more about it on our Help page.

Marcia, you just might get lucky and find a match with someone who turns out to be a cousin.  Even if you are the last remaining person who descended from the farthest back ancestor you know about, he/she may have had siblings you don't know about and one or more of them may have descendants who took a DNA test.  Now how exciting would it be to discover them???

For my mom's YDNA paternal line, I have to trace back to the immigrant ancestor and then come forward on a different son and find a living man that agreed to take the YDNA test for both of our families.  Finding living men in the family line is more difficult now, but it can be done.
