I have done quite a bit of work on this family , used to speak to Edythe Maxey Clark often . She never mentioned any such name , and I have never seen and evidence to this .

There are a lot of Walter Maxeys in the Maxey line.

I know of two with Justinian middle name.

Walter Justinian Maxey Sr  b: 1719  d: 1791 married Mary Ann Netherland

Walter Justinian Maxey Jr.  b 1745  d: 1828  married Ann Swanson

Hi John, I think what he was asking is what document source is this name found, to prove the middle name. Is there a primary document that shows these men using this middle name? What is the document and where can it be found and what is the source citation.

Just seeing it on Ancestry on a tree is not a source, it must be on an actual document like a will, christening record, marriage liscense, deed.

If ancestry has a scan of a document that does count.

I have been looking through all my hand written records for proof of the middle name "Justinian".   I have found several references to him as "Justinian" from other family sources, but nothing definitive.  Still have about 30 boxes of hand written records still to go through.

Once I start "sifting" through about 25 years of records (mine, father's, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers (a Maxey)  I find lots of info that I forgot and get lost in tracking it down via the computer & internet.  Really great tool - this internet, but slightly frustrating too!!!!  John B.

There is NOTHING official to put that name with Walter Maxey . Someone started this rumor and it now appears on all sorts of places . Whoever did this is probably getting some kick out of all the publicity .

To Anonymous,

According to the "Franklin County Historical Society" records in Virginia, his name was Walter Justinious Maxey. The records were pulled from the FC Courthouse, family records and Edythe Maxey Clark's book. Works for me!
