G2G: Advice before merging these pre-1700 Lawton profiles?

Question

Lawton-2751 is a duplicate of Lawton-51 (side-by-side comparison) so they should be merged.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding?

Or perhaps someone with more WikiTree experience would like to complete the merge? Let me know if you do. Thanks!

I am in shock.  The newer profile was added yesterday (along with a duplicate of his wife) and, not only does not meet the source standard for pre-1700 profiles, but does not adequately cite the one (apparently unsourced) document from which a page has been excerpted and uploaded.  The only content of the citation is the document title, which is not the same as the title clearly visible in the image.  Although a different scan of that same page has been uploaded to the earlier profile, it is cited properly so that one could find the document to check if it is sourced, but the earlier profile also has other sources.

By all means, proceed with this merge, however you will first have to wait for the manager of the newer profile to approve it, or for 30 days until it receives default approval.

Thank you for responding, Gaile. I really appreciate your wisdom in this matter as I have no idea what to do, hence the question. This is also a pre-1700 profile which I cannot merge without help. Again, thank you as you answered the question.

Merge had been proposed already and both PM must have approved already. I was able to complete the merge and now proposed merge for the spouse. Nothing is well sourced but they do appear to be same person. His spouse remarried very quickly after he died.
