As of April 25, 2023, WikiTree has had 996,815 members. Very soon it will be over 1 million.

Thanks for pointing this out, Peter! We should track who is #1,000,000 and do something special.

By the way, some members ask if the members statistic really represents "active" members. Since WikiTree is 15 years old we do have a number of members who haven't participated in years or never participated much. However, the number of members shown on the home page does not include members who don't confirm their email address, or whose email address no longer works, or who don't respond to other members' messages, or, of course, who pass away or close their own account.

I guess the real value in new members is also in where they are, and in which part of humanity and history they are interested.

Let me know when we get close and at the last second I'll make my daughter-in law sign up!devil  mooohahahahaha!

The real strategy is to have 10 fake signups near that point, to increase your chance.  You may even sign off a few of them at a tactical moment.

As a Greeter it is not unusual to see a Guest member upgrade to Family Member, or a Family Member sign the Honor Code after a lapse of several years. Often they have not previously made a contribution or made very few.

An assumption can be made the intent is to become active.

We've seen a lot of that lately, Stuart!

Someone messaged me the other day that someone I greeted in 2014 came back and signed the Honor Code recently. Love it! heart

I'm curious, does WikiTree have a means of determining where these members are from? I'd be really curious to see how many nations are represented by these 1 million members.
