G2G: Did you know that an iconic - a LEGENDARY - Australian died recently?

Probably best known as "Dame Edna Everage" - who called Charlton Heston "Chuck", and ordered celebrities around as though they were only there to do her bidding - John Barry "Barry" Humphries died just the other day, on the 22nd April 2023, aged 89 years.

Known world-wide for his characters, he remained our "home grown boy", even though he was a Tony Award winner, honorary vice-president of the American Guild of Variety Artists trade union, and lived abroad for a number of years.

Farewell, and thanks for all the laughs!

Both Barry Crocker and Paul Hogan commented on this via Facebook the next day. I believe they're the last two of that old group still going. End of an era for sure.

An absolute legend! Dame Enda was able to say what others were thinking and got away with it. Sandy Stone was another favourite character of mine
