Does the Wikitree ID numbering system ever change?

I'm setting up links in my Ancestry file to the corresponding Wikitree profile of my ancestor. I'm hoping the ID numbers don't change as this will break my links. Does anyone know if these are ever changed/updated?

The WikiTree ID, such as Green-49771 is the backbone of the entire WikiTree system. These will not change so much - but they can be 'modified'.

For example, when you a merge a profile, this creates a redirect to the new profile. For example Houlihan-1642 is merged into Houlihan-180. If you try to go to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Houlihan-1642 it will automatically redirect you to Houlihan-180. As long as the redirect chain is not too long, you are free to link to WikiTree profiles without worry.

Another way the link will change is if the Last Name At Birth changes thus creating a new profile.

But even in case of the correction of the Last Name at Birth the old id is re-directed to the new id.
Yep, LNAB change is handled the same as a merge - via profile redirect.
