How is the number of contributions shown on my profile calculated?

Question

On my profile it says 2665 Contributions, but when I go to 'My WikiTree' > 'Contributions' there are a lot more entries (almost 5000).

Also, when I go to 'Badges' it says "With 1803 contributions this month, Franc Meyn has already earned the April Club 1,000 badge"
Taking into consideration, that I earned a 1.000-Badge in March, I would expect the number of contributions shown on my profile to be much higher.

Does anyone have an explanation, why the numbers differ so much?

When you look at the 'Badges' section, note that it is just a *monthly* figure.

you are right. But 1803 contributions in April plus at least a 1000 contributions in March plus presumably 500 to 600 contributions from before March, makes 3300 or 3400 contributions in all.

So why does it say on my profile 2665 contributions?

Contributions may be duplicated for certain events, such as adding a child to both parents. That will show as 2 separate entries (but not paired items) in the Contributions feed, effectively doubling the "Contributions" for that single item.

For example:

• Franc Meyn added Lucia (Früchtenicht) Thormählen (1800-1881) as child of Harm Früchtenicht (1773-1831).
•  Franc Meyn added Lucia (Früchtenicht) Thormählen (1800-1881) as child of Rebecka Früchtenicht (1771-1858).

But is important to note that the Contributions Feed is not the same as Contributions count since the count takes into account the items described above. You may see 3000+ entries, but the system knows it was one event and can adjust accordingly.
