Gertruida woud have been 5 years old.
Wikitree: The father [[Gordon-9234]] has no known death date.
It could be that the father died also or couldn't take care for the child.
Andries Stephanus Gordon (maybe a cousin) and his wife
Gertruide Aletta Gordon adopted her or took her in foster.
Maybe she is named after her later adoption mother.
Only a guess ...
Find out how the later parents are related to the original. The maybe adoption mother can't be the original father's sister which has the same name but already died.
Edit: Let me add: The girl was the youngest of 5 siblings: Brother 14, Sisters 12, 8 and 6 years old, when their mother died. (Death record of the mother).
The sister Johanna Christina Maria Gordon married 1912, 19 years old, with the consent of "Guardians" (after her marriage record). Not the consent of the father ...
