I have cleared cookies and still am not getting logged in correctly. I get this message:

WikiTree Apps

This server hosts WikiTree applications that are created and managed by community members. See Tree Apps and the WikiTree Apps Project for more information.

It's been about a week for me.

Would that happen to be this app: https://apps.wikitree.com/apps/york1423/fs-match/? Everything appears to be working well for me.

Yes that is the App that is not working for me.  Am I doing somthing wrong?

It doesn't work for me either. When trying to login to the WikiTree part I get this:

WikiTree FamilySearch match app login error

Bob - Jim,

Have you tried clearing your cache / cookies by chance?

I'm not sure if it helps at all, but I've just tried the app (for the first time in years) and had no problem...

I cleared all of my history stuff on my browser and I was able to log in.

Completely clearing all web cookies and data on Firefox does not help for me. The problem is still there.

In fact this applies to some other apps as well, e.g. BioCheck. I get the same error message as in the image above there, and presumably on any app that needs

https://api.wikitree.com/api.php?action=clientLogin

Tree Apps work for me, but Other Apps don't. See Jamie's comment at this link. Could this problem be a side effect of the introduction of single login for Tree Apps?

With further experimentation I have now succeeded in logging in. I think the problem was that my password manager was automatically using my WikiTree Academy password instead of my WikiTree password for the api site. I had forgotten they were different. I wonder if this is any help to someone else.

This still sounds like a browser issue. Perhaps with the caching of cookies. I'll send a note over to Jamie to ensure she sees this thread.

Edit: Just saw your most recent comment. I will hold on this.

Yes, it is still not working for me...

Tricia, have you cleared the cookies and cache in your browser for all WikiTree domains?

Yes, I just googled how to clear cookies and cache and have deleted all wikitree things. Find family Search Matches still doesn't work. Any other ideas?

I'm probably stumped, Tricia. But let's just check. Sorry if some of this is obvious, but it's worth confirming everything.

  • Are you starting at https://apps.wikitree.com/apps/york1423/fs-match/ ?
  • There should be two Sign In buttons. Let's forget the FamilySearch one for the moment.
  • When you click the WikiTree Sign In button, what do you see?
  • If you see Email Address and Password boxes, are you sure you are entering the right answers?
  • What happens after that? If there is an error message, what does it say exactly? If not, what do you see instead?

Thanks Jim.

I kept going in a loop - the two sign in boxes, filling in the email and passwords for Wikitree, which would take me back to the two boxes, over and over again.

But by clicking on the three dots on the far right top corner from the browser, down to More Tools, then Clear Browsing Data, and now it works fine!

Regards,

Tricia

I'm glad to hear you got it working, Tricia!

I am still unable to get into Familysearch matches and this is the primary way I work with my profiles. I have tried every suggestion mentioned above, clearing cookies/cache/ re-entering password, logging out and back in, nothing.

Help?

Hi Debi. Another thing that might be worth trying is a different browser that you don't normally use for WikiTree: either a different brand of browser on the same device, or a browser on a different device, for example a phone.

Nope, changed from Bing (which I hate anyway) to Chrome, nada, still get the above message. So am I the only person who still can't access the Familysearch matches?
