I am looking for the parents of David Wilhelm, b. 1816

Hello,

I am trying to locate any information about the parents of David Wilhelm, my three times great-grandfather.  He was born Aug 1816 or 1817 and died 12/15/1905.  I know that he lived somewhere in Pennsylvania until 1860, when he and his wife and kids moved to Monroe County, Ohio.  Any information on him or his wife, Maria Nicholas (1824-1906), would be greatly appreciated!  I have hit a major brickwall and am looking for any clues that might help.

Thanks!

Doing my own history of the Wilhelms from PA, I've found two very interesting bits of information.  Many of the Wilhelms that settled in south central PA later moved to the Greensburg, Johnstown areas southeast of Pittsburg.  A second 'migration' led many Wilhelms to the Massillon, Ohio area.  I don't know if these Wilhelms are related to 'my' Wilhelms of the Annville, Palmyra PA (Lebanon & Lancaster counties) area, but I will keep searching and post if I find anything.

The 1900 census record states that David was born in Pennsylvania and his parents were born in Germany, and Mary was born in Germany.  But the 1860 census sates that David and Mary were both born in Bavaria.  Though that census states that Elisabeth, the oldest child listed (age 12), was born in Ohio, the family appears in Pennsylvania on the 1850 census.  Living next to David in 1850 is Jacob Wilhelm, 3 years younger - possibly his brother? And living with Jacob is Elizabeth Wilhelm, age 68 - possibly their mother?  You may want to check for immigration records to see if they immigrated together and list the father.
