Hi! I am tracing my own and my husband's ancestry. We have a brick wall with my husband's 2nd great grandfather Barnabus B Carnes, who became a naturalized US citizen in 1848 and had arrived from Germany according to the naturalization card. We have been unable to trace his parentage. US census documents list both Germany and Switzerland as his place of birth.
