Emma / Emily Fairchild - Selby

Hi,

I found this profile as a potential match for an Emma Fairchild Selby on my tree.  Due to the name changes and conflicts over mother's name I am not convinced these are the same person.

Can anyone lend a hand and let me know if I am on the right track.  I don't want to add a duplicate record.  I've added all the sources I have found with notes in the research notes section and left the rest unchanged.  I will try and track down the records where I have marked action points to find out more.

Many thanks,  Abigail.

Hi Abigail, you've done an awesome job with the research and biography of Emily/Emma.

So far (on a quick look), I would agree with your research that you have the correct information for this woman, based on age, parentage, children, etc.

Best of luck with the action points you have set up.  I'll have a look when I can free up some time.  Well done indeed.

PS: This baptism from FreeReg confirms that Emily's father Henry was a Wheelwright, which ties in with your Census records. https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/58183c8ae93790ec8bf937c8/emily-fairchild-baptism-hertfordshire-ware-1843-12-20?locale=en

Thanks very much Brad.

That baptism record is great, I will add that in tomorrow. Also good to have some reassurance that the Martha thing is likely to be a red herring. I've been hunting for possible step mothers and all sorts :)

I will assume these are all records for the same person and update it for a more readable bio. Well that will be some more links to my tree (once I get the rest added to link to Emma!)

And thank you for the praise too, I'm new at this so it's always helpful to know I'm on the right track with what I'm doing, especially when doing profiles that don't belong to me.

I also feel the 1891 Census that lists Martha Fairchild as a mother in law was a mistranscription.  It happens frequently.
