How do I add a son to Long-7757’s profile with an unknown father when the only choices I get are her two husbands.

Hi!

I wasn’t sure how to word the question.  My 2x great grandmother Mary Byers (née Burden, née Long) had a child three years after her first husband Thomas Burden died at Woodend, Victoria, in 1873.  Frank Henry Burden was born at Woodend in 1876, so obviously can’t be Thomas’ child.  She married Richard Byers in 1878, two years after Frank’s birth.  I suspect but can’t prove that Frank is Richard’s son.  How can I add him as a son of Mary, with an unknown father, when the only choices on the form are Thomas or Richard?  As I said I know he can’t be Thomas’ and can’t prove he’s Richard’s.

Can you not de-select or reject the two men?

Thank you for your reply.  I don’t think so.  You have to select one or the other, and they are the only choices to select from.  I have just thought of another possible way, maybe if I just bypass those choices by hitting ‘continue’ without selecting either of them. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before I posted this question.  I’ll give it a try.

you don't have to choose neither of them. Then the son will have only the mother and on his father there is a blank spot.

Just add the son to the mother and don't click on the name of either of her husbands when asked.
