Can anyone identify the medal that this man is wearing?

We are trying to determine what the medal on this man's chest represents. Doesn't really look like any military medal, but perhaps something belonging to a fraternal organization of some kind. This man was born in New York and moved to Ontario, Canada as an adult.

I found this discussion online about a very similar medal, but it had the initials COCF at the bottom. They speculate that COCF is the "Canadian Order of Chosen Friends"

Looks like he must have been a member of the Canadian branch of the order.
I agree, this is definitely the same sort of thing, a Masonic lodge of some type. Can't see if there is script in the dots surrounding the middle triangle or if they are just dots.

I cropped out all but the medal and part of the coat then:
TinEye searched over 60.0 billion images but didn't find any matches for your search image.
