Is David Cates really the husband of Clarissa Gott?

I just adopted the profile of Clarissa Gott Cates (Gott-94). David Cates is listed as her husband. I saw his profile in a suggestion report - Error 133: No Dates - Dates on relatives. There is no source to show that they were married, and his profile has no information at all, other than naming Clarissa as his wife. I have found records showing that she was married to Edward Cates (Cates-265), who I also adopted. I haven't added him as her husband, yet, as I've been sorting it out. I have found this record naming David Cates as the son of Edward and his previous wife, Judith (Gott-193). Would it be reasonable for me to remove David as Clarissa's husband and, if so, can I change his existing profile to belong to the son?

Yes, if you see a profile like this, that was created by the importation of a ged.com file 10 years ago, with no sources attached, it's reasonable to make the changes you've proposed.
