How to use brother’s DNA Y-111 test results when he has no profile

I (sister) had my brother specifically take a FTDNA Y-111 DNA test to try to break a brick wall back beyond an ancestor from c 1766 in Halifax County VA and possibly connect to Loftis branches that are now in SC and TN. How can I use it in this forum?

Hi Gayle,

If your brother is still living, he needs to have a profile. If you create a profile for him, add his email address. This will generate an invitation to join. Once he joins he can post his DNA test info. Then he can turn over management of his profile to you if he doesn't want to participate further. The DNA help pages have more info:

Alternatively, if he has a gedmatch account, just match on other folks listed here using his gedmatch number. It wont be visible for other people to see in wikitree unless he adds it to his profile as Peggy noted, but you could still use your matching to create DNA Confirmation statements, see the app for that, it is really helpful.
