The Quakers Project is in the process of redeveloping the profile of eminent historian Albert Cook Myers. As we work on this, if there are WT members who had interaction with Dr Myers, we would greatly welcome your addition to the Memories section of his profile. I only recently became aware that Albert was a cousin.

Most genealogists are familiar with his Immigration of the Irish Quakers into Pennsylvania, but one of many works. Among his other extraordinary accomplishments is bringing the original Penn charter of Pennsylvania back to Pennsylvania in 1925. A most interesting fact is that his mother shook hands with Abraham Lincoln after the Gettysburg Address and was present when Herbert Hoover (a Quaker) addressed an audience at Valley Forge Park in 1930 when Albert was chair of the park. A link to an article about that is found on the profile.

One resource that some may not be aware of is Albert Cook Myers, Notes on Immigrants to Pennsylvania, 1681-1737, vols. 1–54, LDS microfilms 567010 through 567023. This is a massive collection of his notes, many from obscure sources, arranged alphabetically by last name, first name. Another resource is Albert Cook Myers, Notes on English Quakers in Pennsylvania, late 17th & early 18th, LDS microfilms 567024-567027. These microfilms are apparently available only at FamilySearch centers.

Is this film of his notes that are in the Chester County Historical Society collection?
I don't know. My guess is that the notes in the microfilms may have come from those contained in the surname folders in Chester County Historical Society's Boxes 140-146.
