Hello and welcome to WikiTree! You've come to a good place to get help to find your ancestors - I'm guessing that WT is new for you - so if you haven't already...
1. Have a look in the Help section on the upper extreme right corner (drop-down menu, 10th field, which opens a page, at the bottom of which you'll find a link titled 'New Member How to' here). That'll show you the ropes in a jiffy.
2. How long have you already been digging, and what information do you already have? Perhaps you could fill us in with what you already know?
3. Where do your family tree research interests lie? At the moment, that is; once started, the rabbit holes extend out everywhere!
4. Start by putting what you already know into WT, and soon you'll be using the tools which have helped many here to grow their own trees.
5. Use the G2G forum (click on the category Genealogy help) if you get stuck.
6. Useful tools: depending on where you live, many free, online records can be found at FamilySearch, Archive.org, Babel Hathitrust, Google Books. You are probably aware that other repositories like Ancestry, Find My Past etc are subscription sites.
7. Anything I've forgotten may well be supplied by anyone else replying to this.
You will love it here. Wishing you a wonderful WT adventure!
Frances
