Hey friends! I am looking for sources for my second cousins. People I have met at least once. Most of them are under 40. I am at a loss on what to show as a source. I added them, but now I am debating.. do I delete the profile? I found an obituary for my aunt that mentions first names.. is that sufficient? I would love suggestions for where to look!

For those that you have already created, they cannot be deleted. Since they are living, their privacy is "Black" and no one can see them except you. One suggestion is to invite each of them to join WikiTree. Then, they can decide on their privacy level and can add a source to themselves. If that does not work, then I think you can just add something like "Personal Family Knowledge" and since no one can see them and they are living, that would be sufficient for now.

I've managed to find remotely related genealogists in the family who have supplied DOB, marriages and kids' names. Where these aren't available, starting a Facebook family group usually attracts members quickly enough.

In Australia the Ryerson Index of newspaper-reported deaths is also a godsend.

You can also "chat up" whoever is editing that family's profiles on FamilySearch.

Two simple options, first if you've meet them you can add that as a source, especially if it was at a family function, 2nd US Public records office Index is a good source for USA residents, other databases of State records will also have births and marriages up to reasonably modern times.

I use a mixture of those and Social Security records for American relatives.

Based on WikiTree guidelines at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Privacy_Policy#Information_on_Living_Family_Members   you should have sought their permission, therefore, saying that you have personal knowledge is sufficient for a "source".

Also, if you find that you have created profiles for living people that you should not have created and want to delete them, you can contact the team at info "at" Wikitree.com and they can help you delete the profiles.
