RAWKer's Nightmare - The Case of the Constantly Changing LNAB

I'm working on the profile of Robert Neill and found several sources - enough to add his wife except that her LNAB keeps changing on every record.

  • There are 2 marriage records for Robert.  One shows his bride as Charlotte Faucett and the other shows it as Charlotte Fawcett.
  • Trying to find other records for Charlotte makes the problem twice as bad.  Her father's last name is shown in different records as Farrett, Fasset, Fawcett, and Faucett.  Note that the Fawcett and Faucett records for father are different from the ones showing those names for Charlotte.

I'm feeling like that ancient Chinese philosopher ... you know, the one named ConfuseUs and could sure use some help to nail down Charlotte's LNAB so that I can add her profile.

These are so much fun. The moment you pin down a surname her given name will appear in 3 different forms and the birthdate will remain the same but the year will change (a great aunt of mine changed hers by 20 years).

I find my tendency is to think the first surname I see is the correct one. Bad habit.
THANX for making me laugh, Kristina.  This one is also a case like the one you described - in the 2 marriage records for this couple, the marriage dates differ by exactly 1 month and the groom's age is 2 on one of them, but 22 on the other - at least that's easy to figure out which is (probably) correct.
