G2G: Is Census as a source

I’m having trouble finding primary sources as part of the US Black Heritage Connector challenge. Does the project want profiles of people that are only found in census records or should we refrain from creating profiles for those individuals?

Hi Mary, Are you concerned about creating profiles for the wife and kids based on this one record?

I’m concerned about the creation of other profiles like the Henry Baggett profile as well as profiles for the wife and kids of Henry. I was  planning on working the 1870 census from Lawrence county, Mississippi but maybe that’s not helpful if I can’t quickly find stronger sources.

The problem with 1870 census records is you may not be able to quickly or easily find the family in other records. We'd rather process as many 1870 census records as we can and at least get the family units on WikiTree. For any women born before emancipation, we use the husband's last name as her last name and use [[Category: USBH Heritage Exchange, Needs LNAB]]. You could also add a research note that relationships are inferred, but more research is needed to confirm.
