Hi Wikitreers,

There is a good article by the NEHS Seeing the Elephant: Lewis and George Bisbee

The Maine Bisbee cousins in the U.S. Civil War

Any collaboration in connecting this Civil War Veteran is appreciated

”Lewis Child Bisbee enlisted as a private in Company I, 16th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in Augusta on Aug. 20, 1862.”

George Dana Bisbee enlisted at the same time in Company C in the same regiment.”

P.s. he didn’t have a Wikitree profile surprisingly when researched

Addendum: both cousins at The Battle of Gettysburg were captured and sent to Libby Prison in Richmond as P.O.W.’s

Andrew:

I got him connected.  While he doesn't have the greatest profile, his father Hannibal was already on WikiTree and connected.

                           Roger

P.S. The relationship is shown by the 1850 Census:

And a Maine birth record.  Add some sources for him.

And here's an interesting report of his death:

Here's a link to a wonderful old picture of him:

Thanks Roger great job updating connecting etc. that photo is very historic! I wouldn’t want to be the other guy facing him on the battlefield!
That is a great article about his life and contributions. How industrious so many veterans became after the Civil War ended. A testament to their generation
He lived until 87 years old not too bad considering the battles he was engaged in as a soldier. I don’t see an actual cause of death as their is no image of the death certificate.

Oh very neat his brother Russell married a “Pike” gal which the “Pike” name is in my direct ancestry through my Babcock side

Small world laugh
