A note from 2004 in Ancestry.com Message Boards:
"....My 4th great grandfather, Harmon Daniel King, Sr., a soldier of the Revolution, moved to Madison County, Alabama around 1809, and stayed there until the 1820s or 1830s, when he was supposed to have returned to South Carolina..
He was married in SC to Elizabeth "Betsy" Flye, daughter of Jesse Flye and Elizabeth Rochelle. (The name Flye was sometimes spelled Fley and sometimes Fly.) Jesse Flye was in Camden District, Kershaw County, SC as early as 1784, when he received a land grant there.
The only child I know definitely born to Harmon and Betsy was Harmon Daniel King, Jr. who was probably born sometime betwen 1805 and 1809, though I have seen his birth date listed as early as 1800 and as late as 1813...
There is a Captain Elisha F. King listed in the roster of the soldiers from the War of 1812 in Madison County, Alabama. Since Betsy Flye King probably had an uncle named Elisha Flye, I suspect that this Elisha F. King was an elder son of Harmon and Betsy. Elisha F. King married in Madison Co., Ala. in 1813, so I would presume that he was born in 1795 or earlier..."
