I wanted to share this family photo of Ernie Thornton with the community. Location: Theodocia Ernie Bedgood Thornton BIRTH Nov 1883 Alabama, USA DEATH 1910 (aged 26–27) Brazos County, Texas, USA BURIAL Martins Prairie Cemetery Keith, Grimes County, Texas, USA. Date: unknown.  
This is the only photo of my Grandmother...I appreciate finding it at Findagrave....hoping someone else is as pleased as I am...she is beautiful...if you have others please share...thanks...jt

Thank You for sharing such a dignified picture of your Grandmother Johnny. It's sad to see that she died so young. Is it possible that Ernie is a nickname for Ernestine? I have a Grandaunt that went by Larry. There were a couple of documents that had it as well. After doing some digging though, I found her given name was Valorie. She just hated the name.

Marty...thanks for your comment...all my life I wondered "why did my Momma and Daddy name my sister...Ernie Joyce?"  When I found the photo on findagrave... it was the first photo I had seen of this beautiful Lady...my grandmother.  There was  some comment elsewhere that her name was Theodocia...not provable...see gravemarker set by family of my grand...they did not change her name from Ernie...my sister Ernie Joyce carried the name with great character...no one else could have done that!  By the way Larry should have met my Ernie(s)...

JT --Your grandmother is quite regal posed the way she is but I can't help but wonder if Ernie is her given name or nickname?

Thanks for your comment/question...for years, Also I wondered why one of my sisters was named Ernie Joyce...a mystery is not mystery when all the evidence is considered.   I also show that one source list this grandlady as Theodocia....I cannot be sure of that first name...conclusion: my parents would not have picked Ernie as a first name of Ernie without some respect to this lady...she does strike me as regal...God bless you !
