Some place the name Captain into the last name that is a title making our search that much more difficult.
For the past 4 years I was working hard to find the connection from Thomas A Captain to his mom and dad and or his grandma grandpa.
The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma seem many of its members attempt to answer this same question.
Today V the past we have DNA giving us proof of some facts we did not know prior.
From my DNA, and the tests we had done of 2 elders we learned that in fact Thomas A Captain B1850 WAS NOT FULL shawnee.
Now as sad as that is for members in his line it is what it is.. Thomas is 1/4 French.
The DNA work done by Roberta Estes tells us it’s likely his grandfather was a white man. Or French i should say.
The new question is who is he?
The other issue is who was his link to Tecumseh and we are told maybe its thru his sister.. i read on this page a argument about Tecumseh sister and maybe with some Captain or this groups help we can solve the missing facts in this case.
We are told Ma-ta-wa-sa in many spellings is Thomas Captains mom is she the sister of Tecumseh or her child ?
We also know Tom Captain was a treaty signer… but that Tom is not Thomas A Captain B1850
