G2G: Do you have access to a volume of "German Immigrants in American Church Records" (GIACR)?

This weekend I heard about the compilation German Immigrants in American Church Records, that collects abstracts of church books records that mention German immigrants. They already published volumes about several states. A complete index is available as download and USB flash drive.

Since this could be a really cool source that might help solving a lot of brick walls, I'm asking myself if some of you fellow WikiTreers already have access to volumes of the series and might be willing to look up names on request? Does a society, in which you are member, maybe have one in their library?

Thanks and kind regards from Black Forest

It looks like the Family History Library has them: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1316260

Edit: I guess I should add that I go there occasionally so I could do some lookups.

Jamie, you suggested that you might be able to research a person in these records.  I have a brick wall for my German ancestor, and nowhere else to look.

Name is John Schoeppner/Schöppner. Born in Germany in 1818 or 1823 (different records); immigrated in the 1850s to USA. Lived in New York City only, for his whole life; did not move to Ohio or the midwest. He died 18 May 1891 and is buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Married Josephine Dirlan, probably before immigrating; they had 5 children. John/Johann is my g-g-grandfather.  Would love to know where she was born, also (records disagree).

I would appreciate any help you can offer; I have been stuck here for 20 years, and nowhere else to look and no other clues.  Census records list various birth locations: Germany, Bavaria, Prussia.

Thank you very much for considering this request.

Hi Sandy, I've added your info to my "stuff to look up next time I go to the FHL" list!

In that case (and since the others don't have the Michigan volume): Can you please also check there for Christopher Albert(s)?

I'm planning on going to the library next week, so if anyone else has someone for me to look up let me know!

There's a copy at my local library. (It has a fairly good genealogy room.)

Florian, I have most of the set here at my library (Wichita Public Library in Wichita, Kansas).  We do not have volumes 6 to 11, or 13 to 15. I will be purchasing the new volumes when they become available, and look forward to the new one since it covers Kansas. I do look-ups all the time, so feel free to ask.

We also have several other useful sets on Germany:

The Atlantic Bridge to Germany Volumes 1 to 10

Germans to America: Lists of Passengers Arriving at U.S. Ports, 1850-1897, Volumes 1 to 67

Germans to America Series II, 1840-1849, Volumes 1 to 7

Map Guide to German Parish Registers Volumes 1 to 60

The Wuerttemberg Emigration Index Volumes 1 to 5

We also have over 100 Yizkor (Memorial) books from JewishGen for towns across Eastern Europe

German Immigrants in American Church Records Volumes 1 to 5, Volume 12, Volumes 16 to 37

The Immigrant Genealogical Society in Burbank, CA has several of these volumes:

all volumes for Missouri

all volumes for Ohio

all volumes except Milwaukee for Wisconsin

in addition, v.7 & v.8 for Iowa (west & northeast), and v. 10 for Illinois (north)

Those who wish look-ups may make a request here:

https://immigrantgensoc.org/look-up-services/

...but please be advised that due to a shortage of volunteers, there may well be a time lag between the date of request and the date of response (especially in summer).  Some charges may apply if substantial time is involved or if significant copying is needed.
