Hi Wikitreers,

I have in my antique collection a 1953 post card of Lake Pocotopaug, East Hampton, Conn. sent to Mr. and Mrs. R. Lieberman and family. 63 Norwood Ave. Brooklyn, New York. From a Gertrude and Fred?

Sent with (two) 1 cent vintage George Washington Stamps for postage

What does the number 8 between the Brooklyn and NY stand for?

I need collaboration in translating the note on post card. Who were Etta and Dick Lieberman? The senders appear to be a Gertrude and Fred from East Hampton, Conn.

Is the surname Lieberman? The spelling appears to be.

See research notes on profile possible match

Thank you

Andrew:

You have the right Richard Lieberman.

The U.S. World War II Draft Cards, Young Men, 1940-1947, has a Richard Andrew Lieberman, 63 Norwood Ave, Brooklyn, New York, with a wife Henrietta (same address):

Omg!!! This is amazing

Thank you!!!

Gertrude was his mother smiley

And he has a sister Gertrude who married Frederick J. Schmidt:

Bet that's Gertrude and Fred.

Oh I see that would be them!!!
The spouse had a profile was connected see updated connections

The best part that stands out to me is the echo from 1953 in the last words of the post card which reads “Love To All”

It really transcends time I think

The 8 between the city and state designated a zone or area of the city. Every city had these pre-zip codes. I remember we had Memphis 9, Tennessee which was actually Whitehaven; if that sounds familiar it is where Elvis' Graceland is located.

Interesting! Learn something new everyday! Life in a pre zip code day and age wow!

Thank you yes

Interesting the name Andrew appears all through the paternal side I believe his fathers middle name is Andrew and the grandfather is Andrew as well how ironic
