G2G: Has anyone tried generating QR codes in Google for Profile Pages?

I have thought of creating QR code using the Google generator, and using those codes as the profile pictures in my desktop software (not as profile pics in Wikitree) so that if I print a chart or a report with the images the person/s who see that can use the QR code to see the Wikitree profile.

My question is: How do I make sure they access the Public profile? If I use the "public view" button, will it link to the ACTUAL public view page?

Thanks for your time,

Susan Dougherty

WikiTree will make sure they see the public version. You can test this by scanning the QR code and opening the resulting link in a browser in which you aren't logged into WikiTree.

Also, most up-to-date browsers offer the ability to create QR codes in the address bar. Just click by the address or click the sharing icon in the address bar and you should see an option to do this.

On WikiTree, each profile has its own privacy settings.

If descendant's profile is not public, depending on the settings, they won't even get a link to click through.

I hope this answer is what you're looking for.

There is more information about Privacy Settings here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Privacy

Thanks for your answer. I guess I was not clear enough. When we, as Wikitree members, click on the "public view" button at the top of the page for public profiles, ie unlocked profiles, we get a warning stating :

This is approximately what members outside the Trusted List see at <https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Litteral-139>.

This warning  is what prompted my question. If I generate a QR code for a page with this warning, is it the same URL that will access the public profile?

I hope this is a more clear version of my question.

Thanks,

Susan Dougherty
