I am a descendant of Sir Walter Scott; My father was born in the Cayman Islands; my previous history from Ancestry.com dictates that Robert Scott and Barbara (Haliburton) Scott are Grandparents, whom had a son: Walter Scott (The Signet) they had approximately 11 children one of them was the writer Sir Walter Scott 1771 -1832 and the other whom became Captain William Robert Scott (Cayman Islands 1767-1791) in looking at the family tree I notice two Walter Scott's as Sons. Listed under children: Walter Scott ABT 1758 in Edinburgh 1758 and Walter Scott 15 Aug 1771 in Edinburgh how could he hav two sons with the same name? Rather confused. Regards Eric John Scott.

Welcome to WikiTree.  Are you inquiring about this person:  [[Scott-21578|Robert Scott (1699-1775)]]?  One key difference about Ancestry versus WikiTree is that Ancestry will consider people as related without source documentation, whereas we work here on WikiTree to make sure all persons in the tree have supporting proof.
