hello,  an enquiry regarding the unconnected profiles of Cheshire. How does the scoring go - in other words if (for example) a connection is made with the  Arbuthnot-1714 family with a tree size of 91 - do we get 91 points to our total ?.
by Allan Entwistle G2G6 Mach 6 (67.2k points)

The scoring in for each profile that you create that is  connected to another profile.  You do not get any extra for connecting a group of unconnected profiles.  There is more information here. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Connect-a-Thon#Participation_Instructions

hello, i connected three 'unconnected' profiles Nixon-7106, Garner-1046, and Beckett-2117 a few days ago, they didn't require any new profiles (just connecting existing profiles), so no point waiting for the start of the connect-a-thon, since there were no additional profiles. All 3 are now connected to the main tree - as shown by the degree number in the browser extension. But in the new list generated this afternoon they are still listed as being 'unconnected' - is there something else i need to do to show that they are now 'connected' ?.

I have one other 'unconnected' profile which i am waiting until Friday to connect, a person probably known to most in the UK.

thanks, Allan

I was looking forward to this so much, but wouldn't you know it. My brother, who I only see once a year at Christmas, has rearranged his summer plans & is arriving here tomorrow for 3 days. It's unlikely I'll be able to add any during the challenge, but I have added lots & lots of "needs profiles" tags over the past month, especially in Lancashire & Devon. I've also added some with my own category field for profiles I manage. If anyone is looking for extra profiles to create, feel free to jump over there. Each of them will have a corresponding profile on Familysearch.

I use Wikitree X to create the basic profile (attached to an existing profile) and then use Wikitree Sourcer with the "Build All" sources to complete the profile.

Or, you could leave that to me by adding this category.

I'm planning to work on my family lines, currently about to add quite a few people from County Durham. I have a village in Norfolk and one in North Yorkshire I like to keep connected to.

I was hoping to participate, but quite frankly am overwhelmed. The deeper I dig, the more conflicting information I find and I don’t know how to verify accuracy enough to feel confident in adding records. I am quite a novice at this thing, and also don’t have the time needed to devote. Hopefully I will learn more and be better prepared for the next thon.

Do not worry Brian. WikiTree can be quite confusing until you get used to it.  I suggest that you consider joining the England Project so that we can try to help you.You would do our Orphan trail, but people work at their own pace and it would give you a good understanding of how WikiTree works and how to make a good profile.
