a Name manager doesn't participate

After uploading my GEDCOM I found a discrpency in one of the suggested matches.  I belive it IS a match but I contacted the name's manager and received this reply: "I don’t do anything to update this WikiTree account.  Just posted it for others to work with."

I thought this was not the idea of WikiTree.  If my documentation is correct should I just change the data to match the documents?  And shouldn't the name manager be someone who is going to be responsible?

Thanks

Dave

Is this an "Open" profile? If so, you can edit the profile to correct the errors you found (and when you do so, be sure to cite a good source for your information!).

It would seem the two matching profiles are created and then they should be merged. I would suggest you propose such a match; that action will acknowledge your approval to proceed. The other manager will be notified of the merge and will have 30 days to approve, postpone or reject. If no action, which seems likely, the merge is in default and anybody may complete the requirement.

I did NOT import the matching profile!  In the GEDCOM I marked it to be Skipped.  So there is no "matching" profile, just errors in the original name listing which the original name manager will not correct.  As stated, he has nothing to do with WikiTree.  I don't even know how he was allowed to upload this info.

I will do what Ellen says if possible or else contact and administrator.

David, you might want to forward the message you received from this profile manager to info@wikitree.com with the question of whether or not the person should be removed as PM from their profiles and any open profiles orphaned so that they could be adopted by someone else. That's what I would do if I received such a message.

Unfortunately, there are many people who uploaded their information here, then left, without fully understanding the role of "profile manager". It would be great, David, if you adopted those that are part of your line.

Good luck.
