Rob, Thanks for the free search information. Jacob is my gg grandfather. He was an independent contractor and put up many buildings, including a house for Chief Yellowhead. Jacob married Sarah Sutherland who had 9 sons and 6 daughters with him. Jacob died relatively young after picking up a heavy object that cause internal injuries.

Jacob Gill had a neighbor, Francis Phelps, who must have been a good friend because he and Sarah named one of their sons after him. The son was named Francis but was called Frank. He relocated from Orillia to Waterford, Erie County, PA around 1870.

NAME:  Francis Phelps
VITAL:  1837 - Holland Landing, East Gwillimbury Twp
PUBLICATION:  York, Ontario, Canada

Frank

That's great , Frank. I just found a couple marriages that eloped in Canada !
