Betsey (or Elizabeth?) SAMPSON (~1768-1844) Kingston MA

What was her birth name? Was she a Sampson (or Samson) by birth or previous marriage prior to marriage to [[Sampson-1736 | Howland Sampson]]?

She is buried in Kingston, Massachusetts, with an Old Burial Ground gravestone inscription: widow of Howland Sampson died 16 April 1842, 74th year (other records indicate death was 18 April)  She would have been about 32 when she married Howland Sampson in 1800.  She has special interest to me as the source of my mitochondrial DNA.

Is there a connection to John Howland who came over on the Mayflower? If so, a five generation book of descendants might offer some insight as to Elizabeth's maiden name.

Maybe her maiden name was Sampson. I have ancestors who were distant cousins each with the Conant last name. They married and had a boy and a girl, each named after one of the parents. They were Silvanus and Silvia Conant.
