G2G: matching GEDCOM file

I am confused by the compare and then match v. reject choices.  There are a number of suggested matches to the GEDCOM file I want to import (in cases several suggested matches to one name).  I have no idea whether these could be matches or not.  I assume that once the names are uploaded I will have a chance to compare the information.  Do I then have the option to accept or reject a match?  The match v. reject choice suggests that if I choose to compare and match I won't have the option to reject

Hi Tucker,

Yes, you can do matching and merging after an import, but the idea of GEDMatches is to prevent new duplicates from being created.

I'm not sure I understand the second part of your question. Maybe give a specific example of what you're seeing and the decision you're facing?
