Thank you Frank you have confirmed the info I had seen on ancestry.com  I still need to find his birth parents but as the name was changed on entry into the USA I don't hold out much hope.  His father was a Salvationist minister. And called william.  We believe there may have been two sisters called Elsie, Dorothy or Jessie.
