Last names that appear to be typos?

In the Wiki index tonight I saw a whole family with the surname Smtih. It looks like a typo and I'm wondering if there a lot of names that were actual clerical typos on official documents that were never fixed. I mean glaringly obvious ones? Also there seems to be some sloppiness in the Wiki itself. Many names uncapitalized etc. I wonder if we need some universal editors just for typo fixes on the forms.

Hi Richard,

It frustrates me to see typos too.

When you say, "in the Wiki itself," what do you mean?

Anyone is able to edit Open profiles, but those are usually only people born 200 or 300 years ago. With all the more Private profiles http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Privacy you need to be on the Trusted List. Which is unfortunate, when you see such obvious mistakes.

I phrased that part wrong. I mean  instead of Richard Belcher the names are richard belcher. Seems like first names at any rate should be capitalized by the editor parser.
Hi Richard. We do, now. Some of the earliest profiles in WikiTree don't have initial caps.

I doubt the wrong surnames are all clerical typo's and assume most are just entered incorrectly (in my oppinion clerical typo's need to be corrected if certain). When I find a profile like that I ussualy contact the manager so that he or she can correct the information.
