Hi,

You need to provide us with as much info as you have -  NOT ALL of the following but SOME of this will help identify your family e.g.

which dates (or approx. dates), country, state (in USA), county  (in UK), town, parents names (and any birth, marriage or death dates), mother's maiden name, siblings, uncles and aunts - the more clues you provide the more help you may receive.

Good luck!
There are lots of folks here at WIkiTree who are generous with their time to help others, but would need to know a bit more about your Kirk family and what sort of things you are hoping to find out about them.

Good luck with your tree!

Living relatives can be a good source of information. You could start with the names of your parents, grandparents and great grandparents. Work on finding the names of anyone who is missing, and then go back another generation with your research.
