Tracing Forsyth/Forsythe surname in Co. Tyrone

I am researching the Forsyth/Forsythe families in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, trying to find links to my great-grandmother, Margaret Forsythe.

Margaret was born about 1831, but we do not know if she was born in Ireland or Scotland. She died in Dunmullan, Cappagh Parish, County Tyrone in 1909. Her father was named James Forsythe. She married Robert McElrea of Dunmullan and they had at least five sons. Tentatively, I show the following siblings for Margaret: Sarah, Cathrine, Samuel.

I have found a link to descendant of another James Forsythe in New Zealand by DNA. We are trying to navigate the confusing family lines to see what relationship there was between the two.

If you are a Forsythe descendant, please consider participating in the Forsythe DNA Project on Family Tree DNA and/or joining the Forsyth USA Clan.
